Welcome to our weekly blog about DoF members.
We hope that these blogs will entertain you as well as help you in getting to know our members and DoF better.
We asked Roemer 15 standard questions from our
Meet the Member blog questionnaire
and then we gave chance to our members to ask 5 specific questions.
Hi, I’m just some guy from Germany who enjoys gaming from time to time. I currently study at university while working simultaneously. In my spare time I listen to music and play the trumpet. Furthermore I like sports, especially handball. I also like to consume unhealthy quantities of mind-numbing beverages.
If you ever wondered, what the name Roemersa Is supposed to mean here is a short explanation: Roemer (Römer) is German for a roman person, whereas “sa” stands for Scipio Africanus, to be exact Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus. He was a roman general in the second Punic war who beat Hannibal. So that’s that.
I'm apologizing in advance for any mistakes in spelling/grammar etc., since English isn't my native language.
Favorite Quotes/Lines: "You better not look down, if you wanna keep on flying." - BB King
1. How and why did you join DoF? I waited many years for Bannerlord's release and when it finally arrived I thought to myself why not join a clan. What I really like about DoF that it is an international clan with great people from all over Europe and the USA.
2. Favorite moment(s) in DoF? Every time we win an official match. Or even lose but not without giving our opponent a good fight.
3. Favorite book? Unfortunately, I don’t read that much anymore. I recently read “The End of Eternity” by Isaac Asimov, which I really enjoyed.
4. Favorite movies and tv shows? That’s a hard one. There are a lot of great movies and if I had to choose one it probably would be “Blues Brothers”. My favorite tv show probably is Breaking Bad.
5. Favorite music? That’s even harder than the previous question. Most of the music I listen to probably is some form of Rock. Besides that, I do enjoy Blues, Funk, Soul, Jazz, Swing, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Disco etc.
Music is just too diverse and versatile to just commit to one genre.
6. Favorite food and drink? Cabbage sausage with kale and potatoes. The Sausage is a specific kind of sausage called, “Pinkelwurst” which originates in the northern part of Germany. Its taste differs from city to city and butcher to butcher so if you should ever get a chance to eat it, don't expect it to be as good as the one I love.
When it comes to beverages, I love me some French Cidré or regional beer.
7. Favorite color? I like anything from red to purple especially darker color shades.
8. Favorite time of the year? Every season has its pros and its cons. Once again, the variety is what makes it so great. I like spring, summer, fall and winter.
9. Are you sport or esports fan and if so, what are your favorite sports and teams? I’m not fan of any sport or esports league. As I play handball myself, I watch a game or go to one every now and then. I wouldn’t consider myself as a fan though.
10. Do you have any pets? Nope, never did. I like animals but there are a lot of benefits from not having any at home. Maybe someday I’ll get a dog, tho. Or a parrot.
11. Place you would love to travel to? I got a lot of places on my bucket list. Right now, I’d love to travel through Scandinavia for a couple of months and camp somewhere in the wilderness.
12. Most inspiring historical figure? He’s only been dead for five years now, but I’m a big fan of Riley B. King better known as BB King. He wasn’t just a great musician, he also was one of the strongest most humble and most inspiring individuals I know.
13. Favorite games? Mount and Blade series, Warhammer Vermintide (1&2), Witcher 3, Saints Row (3&4), Evolve, Subnautica, The Forest, Warhammer 40k Spacemarine, AoE Series (including AoM), Anno series etc.
14. Describe your playing style? Trying to stay alive. Sadly, I don’t always succeed at it.
15. What will be your main class in Bannerlord? Cav/Inf.
And now we will turn to the specific questions our members had for Roemersa
16. Krex would like to know Which thing would you like to experience for the first time again?
That's a weird question, since there is no point in it, because you cant turn back time. I like the way things happened so far. So i cant really answer that question.
17. White Noise asking: Favourite place to recommend in Germany? The dykes at the coast of Ostfriesland (region in the north western part of Germany). Germany also has a ton of beautiful cities. Just to name one, Bamberg is a very nice city also close to where I live.
18. Tom is wondering What is something that you always wanted to do but never had the time/opportunity to? Skydiving.
19. Erminas is curious What local dish would you recommend to everyone?
Fränkisches Schäuferle mit Kloß und Soß (roasted pork shoulder with potato dumpling) combined with a regional beer. (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schäufele)
20. Jukbox's question: Do you think EU players are better than NA? I don’t know enough NA players to answer that question.
And now the round of Bonus questions:
Question by Erminas: Do you have any hobbies apart from gaming? I’m playing the trumpet and handball. I also enjoy a variety of other sports, which I only perform irregularly.
Question by Jukebox: Do you prefer milkshakes or ice cream? Both.
Question by Snick: On a scale of 3-10, how much did the US presidential debate hurt your brain, if you watched it? If you didn't watch it, how much do the 2 US presidential candidates hurt your brain? To answer your question, yes, I did watch their first debate and it was everything I expected it to be. Just another testimonial to the seemingly unending degeneration of a nation’s politics. What I wrote might sound a bit harsh but after 4 years I’m getting really tired of it.
Follow up question by Snick: What is it like, watching America as an outsider?
Disappointment is the word that sums up the situation very well.
